Just as health citizens are key to national
development; adequate nutrition is a key
determinant of sound health. The absence of
adequate nutrition in all its forms amounts to
an intolerable burden that suffocates fulfillment
of life goals, enjoyment of life, and the very
essence of human survival. As a newly–established
Department of Human Nutrition and Health
at LUANAR, we have positioned ourselves to
become a strategic partner in the nexus between
nutrition and health through the generation of
knowledge on evidence-based nutrition.
Using
applied and multidisciplinary approaches, we
specifically focus on food, nutrients and other
constituents; nutrition and related disorders;
determinants of malnutrition; and, nutrition
policy and programming. Our passion is driven
by the realization that investing in nutrition and
health improves productivity and economic
growth; promotes intellectual capacity and
social development; and ensures longevity for
the people living today, and the generation to
come.
