The Deputy Vice Chancellor - Professor Lewis Baison Dzimbiri





Prof. Lewis Baison Dzimbiri, PhD Industrial Relations, Keele University UK; MSc Human Resource Development, University of Manchester, UK and BA Public Administration, Chancellor College, UNIMA - is a professor of public administration and management.

He is a seasoned management educator, trainer, researcher, facilitator and consultant with over twenty five years’ experience in the public, private and non-governmental organizations in Malawi and beyond. He has taught at the Staff Development Institute, Mpemba in Malawi, the University of Botswana,Galilee International Management Institute (Israel) Midlands State University (Zimbabwe), Great Zimbabwe University and the University of Malawi.

He is an External Examiner at the HO Polytechnic Ghana,University of Pretoria, North West University, University of Kwa Zulu Natal, Lupane State University, and Bindura University in Zimbabwe. He has also consulted, researched and conducted management training in Malawi, SADC member states and beyond. He has functioned in numerous committees and boards, supervised and examined research projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Prof. Dzimbiri has a good track record of publications which include 6 books, 36 journal articles, 25 book chapters and over 100 conference/workshop papers. Administratively, he has served as Head of Department of Political and Administrative Studies, Dean of Faculty of Social Science (twice) and Vice Principal of Chancellor College in the University of Malawi.

He has taught general management, human resource management, human resource development, industrial relations and public administration-related courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students and has also done research in these areas as well as supervised and examined numerous students at undergraduate and postgraduate level

His consultancy assignments have been in capacity and skills assessment, Organizational analysis and review, programme and project evaluation, strategic planning, training needs assessment, workshop and training facilitation. He has also been hired on several occasions by the National Council for Higher Education to lead teams for the assessment and review of private local and regional universities for registration as universities and accreditation of their programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Currently, he is the Deputy Vice Chancellor at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) where he responsible for leadership and management, research and publications, academic affairs, resource mobilization and financial management, publicity and quality assurance matters of the University which aspires to be a ‘World Class University’.
