Call for applications
Department of Food Science and Technology at LUANAR implemented a research project titled “Aflatoxin management interventions, Education and Analysis at various steps within the peanut value chain in Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia” with funding from USAID Feed the Future Peanut Productivity and Mycotoxin Innovation Lab (PMIL). The Department will be conducting a 5 day training for local groundnut processors to improve the quality and safety of groundnut products on the retail market in Malawi. The training will cover the following topics:

• Good manufacturing practices,
• Aflatoxin management and testing;
• Standards of quality for peanut butter and groundnut flour;
• Hands-on practicals for processing high quality and safe peanut butter and groundnut flour.
Target: Thirty Small scale peanut processors who are currently producing peanut butter and groundnut flour.

Venue and date: The training will take place from 18th to 22nd September at LUANAR Bunda campus.
Costs: Participants will cover their own travel, accommodation and meals, except refreshments and lunch.

Interested processors should write to the following address by Wednesday 13th September 2017 expressing their interest to participate in the training. The project will endeavour to verify that applicants are actual processors.
