Celebration: NRC Lady pythons celebrating victory at their training court
The Natural Resources College ladies basketball team, NRC Lady Pythons, have finished on third position and got away with K500,000 in the Mo626 Ice intercollege basketball tournament after beating Chanco Ladies on Saturday, 16th December 2017. The Lady Pythons beat their counterparts by 54 to 25 baskets in a third position playoff match that was played at African Bible College.
Speaking in an interview after the game during a photoshoot on Wednesday, NRC Lady Pythons’ captain, Kittykat Maguja said the game was very tough as their counterparts were tough but they worked hard and managed to win the game.
“I can’t really say they are weak. They tried their level best. We managed to win the game because our defense and offence were good which made us to have more baskets and we conceded less,” said Maguja.
Maguja expressed dissatisfaction of the rank, saying they opted for the first position. “We had obstacles like exams and we started training late but still we worked hard and finished third,” said Maguja. However, the Lady Pythons’ captain said they will work hard in their trainings and promised to win gold next season.
Kittykat therefore asked their fans to continue supporting them. “Our supporters and fans out there should continue supporting us, motivating us; we need that morale for us to keep us going.” She said.
The Mo626 ice intercollege basketball tournament, was launched in October 2017 by the Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and being sponsored by the National Bank of Malawi.
