Action Learning Programme: Students for Climate Justice
PRACTICUM INFORMATION
The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources in collaboration with Trócaire will facilitate an action learning programme for Students on Climate Justice. This is an Integrated Education and Action Learning Programme to support groups of students to undertake advocacy projects on the issues of climate change and climate justice. This intervention aims to design and deliver an extra-curricular action learning programme for University students in Malawi and Zimbabwe around issues of climate justice.
This programme will provide an experiential learning platform allowing students to contribute a valuable and needed voice on the issues of climate change. It will facilitate individuals with similar interests and/or motivations to come together and work effectively in teams.
In terms of knowledge, it is expected that this opportunity will increase their understanding of climate justice issues and their underlying causes. Students will be familiar with a range of action pathways which they can take to advance the climate change policy agenda in Malawi and beyond. For skills, students will have increased their capacity to critically engage with and analyze climate change issues and increase their skills in leadership, teamwork, collaboration and communicating effectively.
To apply you must be a full time undergraduate or postgraduate student in any programme. Students from NRC Campus are encouraged to apply. This is NOT an academic credit-bearing program. However, programme associated costs for participants will be covered, including transport, meals, and lodging for off-campus activities. All participants will be expected to participate in pre-planning activities either online through hybrid learning or on campus. In addition, participants will be expected to provide feedback and interviews that will (1) improve future iterations of the programme, and (2) share your learning experience with the wider LUANAR community.
The partners has a strong belief in the voice of young people to bring about change.
