Capacity Building for Managing Climate Change (CABMACC) programme has organised a two-day workshop to discuss communication needs of the programme and come up with its communication strategy and operational plan.

The workshop which is running from 9th to 10th June 2015 targeted programme management and project coordinators and individuals working in communication field and is being facilitated by Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) Senior Advisor Joanna Boddens Hosang.

According to Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mr Emanuel Zenengeya, CABMACC programme and its projects needs a communication strategy and operational plan in order to communicate programme results and findings to various identified target audiences.

He said previously the programme faced challenges in communicating effectively with different teams saying this can only be solved by having an effective communication strategy that will ensure smooth sharing of research outcomes and other useful information.

“We are also looking at the fact that most projects have just kick started and tangible outcomes will be coming forth, therefore there was need for a proper mechanism of sharing information with our targeted audience,” said Mr Zenengeya.

He added that the communication strategy will be important as CABMACC rolls out the full usage on information and technology transfer nodes that are being supported in Rumphi, Nkhotakota and Phalombe where some of its projects are being implemented.

“It is the hope of CABMACC programme that the communication strategy will address all the communication challenges and ensure effective implementation of the projects including proper dissemination of research findings.

CABMACC is a five year programme which is funded by the Royal Kingdom of Norway and coordinated by LUANAR in collaboration with NMBU.
