Participants with the Deputy Vice Chancellor soon after the closing ceremony
A team from Universidade Pedagogica (UP), an education University in Mozambique has trained some LUANAR staff on a Portuguese language course.

The training conducted at LUANAR from 28th August to 4th September 2015, was part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LUANAR and UP which started in 2013.

According to UP leader of delegation, dr Wilson Denis the training has been successful saying that this is the second level as earlier this year another team came to teach first level of the course.

“We are satisfied with the positive response we got here. The participants were actively participating in both theory and practical hence they are now able to communicate in Portuguese,” said dr Denis.

“These participants today showcased what they have learnt and I assure you that they will not face language problems if they visit Mozambique,” said dr Denis.

Speaking during a closing ceremony of the training on Friday 4th August 2015, LUANAR Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kaunda thanked UP for their commitment to train LUANAR staff saying this will enhance communication between these two institutions.

He said currently LUANAR is admitting more students from Mozambique and that if there can be some staff members who can speak Portuguese, it will be easier for these Mozambiqan students to interact with them.

Professor Kaunda further promised the students that they should organise to go to one of the Mozambique borders to practice Portuguese speaking.

UP has promised to come back in October for level three and LUANAR team from the Department of Agriculture Education and Development Communication (AEDC) is expected to go to Mozambique to teach English once they finalise their curriculum.
