LUANAR Programme Coordinating Office has a team made up of four staff members. The following is the list of PCO Staff

Dr. Andy Safalaoh

Programmes Coordinator

Dr Andy Safalaoh is University Programmes Coordinator since March 1, 2017. In addition, Dr Safalaoh also serves as the Coordinator for the LUANAR–Michigan State University (MSU) Global Centre for Food Systems Innovation (GCFSI) based at LUANAR-Bunda Campus. As Programmes Coordinator, Dr Safalaoh is responsible for overall management of all the programmes and projects run through the programmes coordinating office in addition to resource mobilisation, programme monitoring and evaluation. Apart from being Programmes Coordinator, Dr Safalaoh is also an Associate Professor in Animal Nutrition (Monogastrics) where he is involved in teaching, research, outreach and consultancy work. Andy has PhD, Master of Science and BSc degrees from University of Nottingham (UK); Oklahoma State University (USA) and University of Malawi respectively. In addition, he has several certificates of attendance including but not limited to Innovation and Economic Development (Brazil); Pathways Approach to Development (UK); Innovation and Sustainable Development (Montpellier, France) and Agriculture, Science Technology Innovation Systems (Netherlands). Before joining Bunda, Dr Safalaoh previously worked as Training Development Coordinator, Food Production Coordinator and Programme Manager for the USAID-funded Malawi Rural Development Linkage Programme for Mbalachanda (Mzimba) and Mkhota (Kasungu) Impact Areas. Andy is also a Leadership in Environment and Development (LEAD) Fellow.

Dr. Horace Phiri

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Dr. Horace Phiri is a Lecturer in the Department of Agriculture and Applied Economics at Bunda Campus and is seconded to LUANAR's Programme Coordinating Office as Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist. He holds a PhD in Agriculture and Resource Economics and has extensive experience in project management, research and surveys. He previously worked for the ANARMAC, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA).

Mr. Barrettie Kondowe

Barrettie Kondowe is the programmes Accountant for Bunda College, Programmes Coordinating Office now LUANAR he is mainly responsible for Norwegian Government Grants to Malawi including Bunda Capacity Development Programme (BCDP) a fund for Staff and students capacity building at Bunda College,a NOK 81.0 Million (US$13.5 Million) from 1998 – 2010 and The Agricultural Research Development Programme (ARDEP), a national programme governed by national structures of Management and ARDEP Board. With a total funding of NOK 35.0 Million (US$5.8million) from 2005 - 2012. Currently, he is responsible for the finances of programmes coordinated at PCO,namely Capacity for Managing Climate Change (CABMACC), Bunda Infrastructure Development Programme (IDP) to the tune of NOK60million (US$7.2million) and NOK 65million (US$7.8million) respectively financed by Norwegian Government, and the Skills Development Programme (SDP) financed by world bank through a loan to Malawi Government for US$8.0 million which is three to four years starting from July 2015.

Mrs. Alice Chalemba

Alice Chalemba is the programmes assistant in the Programmes Coordinating Office, her main duty is to Support the Programmes Coordinator in all administrative and management activities of the programme, she joined the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) in 2008 which was then Bunda College of Agriculture. She renders Secretarial Service for the office and is responsible for Maintaining an updated filing system, Maintaining an Efficient Logistical Link, Communication and Resource Management. She holds secretarial certificates, diploma in computer studies, an advanced diploma in Marketing and is now persuing a BSc in Business Administration...

Mr. Emmanuel Daniel Senzani

Emmanuel joined the Lilongwe University of Agriculture on the 1st of july 2008 as the office assistant in the programs coordinating office ,his main responsibilities has been to provide assistance in all general office operations. Before joining Bunda,he previously worked for Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations from November 1996 to December 2006.
